Frequently Asked Questions


What do I wear?

Senior Ball is a black-tie event. Tuxedo rentals will be available in the Student Center. Please check the Tuxedo Rentals section for information and dates that rentals will be available. Women are encouraged to wear formal dress attire.

What should I bring?

We will be checking your MIT ID (or some other form of ID if your date is non-MIT) when you check in. If you are over 21 and plan to consume alcoholic beverages, you must show government ID (e.g. state driver license, state IDs, or passports). Bring cash for the cash bar, taxis, etc.

Where is it?

Can I sit with my friends?

Yes! You can request seating once everyone in your table has purchased a ticket. A request form will be made available in the near future. If you would like to sit next to a particular table, please email seniorballtables12@mit.edu.

Can I book a room at the Sheraton on the night of Senior Ball?

How do I get there?

By Public Transportation   Take the #1 Bus towards Boston. Get off at Newbury Street/Hynes Convention Center. Take a left on Boylston Street and a right on Dalton Street The Sheraton will be on your left!

By Car/Taxi   Head south on the Mass Ave. Bridge towards Boston. Take a left on Boylston Street, followed by a right on Dalton Street. The hotel has valet-parking, and self-parking is available at the Prudential Center.

Through Prudential Center   The hotel is located off the Hynes Court/Belvidere Arcade wing in the Prudential Center. Once you see the sign for the Sheraton, the location for the Senior Ball will be signed.
